As someone who deals with anxiety, I know how important it is to find self care activities that help you work through those feelings of overwhelm, worry, and panic.
For me, the fastest and most effective way to clear my head is journaling. There’s something really cathartic about putting pen to paper and releasing all the thoughts that are bouncing around in my head. The time it takes to write everything out forces me to focus on one thought at a time, releasing a pressure valve in my mind, freeing up space with each thought that can then live on paper instead of cluttering my brain. I write until I’m out of thoughts and my mind is clear and calm.
But what comes next?
Being so honest and vulnerable, even if it’s just in your journal, can be both mentally and emotionally exhausting. Once you clear out all that mental clutter, that’s when the real self care begins. It’s important to spend time building yourself back up, refilling your mind with positive thoughts and practicing habits and activities that uplift you mentally and physically.
For this, I highly recommend The Mood Booster Journal, a guided journal that functions as your own personal self care plan and happiness scrapbook.
Camilla Woolgar created The Mood Booster Journal after going through a difficult period emotionally. She created the journal to record happy memories, achievements, and gratitude lists to keep herself in a positive state of mind and uplift her mood when needed. She even added a whole section of listing and journaling prompts focusing on building confidence and finding inner strength. You can read Camilla’s story here.
I love Camilla’s mission with The Mood Booster Journal and was delighted when she offered me a free copy to review for the blog. And since I know this journal would be a great tool for many of you to add to your self care routines, I am so excited that Camilla is graciously sponsoring a giveaway in which one lucky reader will win their own copy of The Mood Booster Journal! So, read on for my full review and make sure to enter the giveaway at the end of the post for your chance to win!
As you can probably tell by the picture, this journal is gorgeous. It’s hardcover (also available in paperback) and features a modern, minimalist design in a shade of mint that’s calming and easy on the eyes. It features 289 pages on nice quality paper.
The first section in The Mood Booster Journal features guided prompts for journaling and listing on over 30 different topics, designed to get you reflecting on your strengths and focusing on things that make you feel good. Prompts like listing your skills and recalling situations in which you showed courage help build confidence and remind you that you are capable on days when you need an extra bit of encouragement. I especially like the prompt about reframing problems as opportunities for growth. This part of the journal is a really great introduction to introspective journaling that will help you identify your own strength.
The prompts section also features pages for listing things like hobbies you love, music you enjoy, and places you find peaceful. When you are in need of self care, The Mood Booster Journal can become your quick-reference guide to ideas of activities to do and things to focus on, all your own personal favorites. It even features pages for recording inspiring quotes and another section for photos that help you recall happy memories. With so many things you love in one place, it’s sure to bring a smile to your face when you are having a tough day.
The majority of The Mood Booster Journal is comprised of the Year of Happiness Diary. This section features half a lined page for each day of the year. There is a space for you to fill in the year and then do a line or two of journaling to the side. These lines are perfect for filling with daily gratitude, achievements, or recording happy memories. There is enough space to use the Happiness Diary year after year, and it would be amazing to look back each day to recall all your memories, successes, and blessings from the years before! Even on the worst of days, the Year of Happiness Diary is a great reminder to take a few moments to focus on the positive.
I love The Mood Booster Journal, and I truly believe it’s a great self care tool that can have a positive effect on your mindset, happiness, and confidence. If you want to get started improving your life with The Mood Booster Journal, you can order your own on Amazon today!*
